Bingo! Roberts and the Court's right-wing Republicans havemade the destruction of the Constitution possible.

That was my immediate thought, after the extradition attorney in me stopped gasping in horror at this international crime. The USSC gave this murderer Carte blanche & he is taking full advantage to run every law & principle we have straight into the ground. The consequences will continue for years & we have little idea at this point what they will be. The man the country elected to execute our laws has become the worst scofflaw this country has ever known.

I have never been this afraid of what the future holds for the U.S. and for the rest of the world. The goal of our Constitution was always to prevent this from happening. And that it happened so quickly & with such ease is a mind blowing shock to those of us who believed in what this country was meant to be.

The only good here is that by their actions, they reveal who they are; there will be no hiding when we clean house!

The SCOTUS is both Complicit and Duplicit, in the current state of our Federal Government. Roberts Should Resign In Shame.

As well as the other "Conservative" members who were appointed during Felon47's Last term of Squatting In The Peoples House.. *JMHO*

The Sleazy Six should be removed. Try Thomas, Alito, and Roberts for bribery and corruption. Convict and jail. Try Gorsuch, Barrett for lying to the Senate. Investigate Kavanaugh for sexual assault and lying to the Senate. Under presidential immunity, remove the six corrupt justices and jail them while awaiting trial. Expand the Court, enact term limits, and an enforces ethics code expressly for the SCOTUS. After a new court is confirmed, pass a law against presidential immunity and electing a felon to the presidency.

Elliott, I agree with everything you said but you left out the prime enabler. More than Trump, the person who turned the crank of judicial nomination/approval in ways the crank had never been turned before and that created this disgraced MAGA court, is of course Mitch McConnell. The same guy who later would not vote in favor of Trump's impeachment claiming the legal system will pass judgement on his Jan 6 treason. Of course subsequently the MAGA court that he created neutered the legal system by appointing Trump King.

Amen, Elliot ! So many fronts to clean up, so many illegal acts to rectify !! Do you think those 77 million pro Trump voters were happy this morning ? Or were they mortified ! I wish someone could get a comment from John Roberts or more interestingly Justices Brown, Kagan and Sotomayor. Lin Manuel Miranda got it right when they sang in “Hamilton”, “the world turned upside down” ! It did this morning with a bang ! Especially funny was the use of the Monroe Doctrine in Trumps speech (40 minutes late- how rude ! ) so watch out Canada, Mexico and Greenland ! He’s on a roll !!

Another question ? When that air craft carrier gets to New York does Maduro get to do the perp walk down the plank ???

Those MAGA voters won't get it until their sons start coming home in body bags. They don't give a shit as long as it doesn't affect them. So much for the "No foreign wars" candidate. 🙄

But to those MAGA families, it’s God/Country (as defined by Trump)/Family. Family, their sons and daughters in body bags, is third, behind their warped definition of Christianity and Trump’s America. Few will change their minds.

Have you ever seen what a wheel web spider's web looks like when it has been built under the influence of drugs?

That's exactly what the current legal system in the US reminds me of.

It lacks structure, stability and balance, nothing is as it should be. Bizarre excesses on the one hand and fragmentation on the other dominate the picture.

You can not fix something like this; you have to destroy it completely before something new can be created.

I would trust the spider, now sober again, to do this. When it comes to the US, I have my doubts.

It’s more than one war including a war on checks and balances, so, “How are your wars going, Mr. Roberts ?” Which are balls and which are strikes?

Madness brought to you by Roberts and his buddies.the handshake and “i’ll not forget “ foretold the future.

yes---yes----yes it all starts with the SUPREME COURT. The Scotus has certainly DISGRACED OUR COUNTRY WITH IT'S ACT OF DECLARING THAT trump HAS TOTAL IMMUNITY against ALL LAWS OF this COUNTRY!!!! UNHEARD OF!!!!!!! And those six REPUBLICANS DELIBERATELY DID THIS KNOWING THEY WERE BREAKING THE LAW, and KNOWING WHAT TRUMP WAS GOING TO DO WITH THIS ILLEGAL ''BLESSING''. I agree------N O H I D I N I G for ANYONE INVOLVED, IN ANY WAY, IN THIS ACT OF TREASON!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone connected, in any way, with this plot, knowingly involved themselves to become a traitor to WE THE PEOPLE.

It’s blood on their hands. Court reform is coming. Just have to win and keep winning for 16-20 years.

Yes, good old "it's my turn now" Roberts. I almost hurled when I saw that during his "confirmation" hearings. 🤢

Thank you, Elliot, for placing the focus on John Roberts. For all that Alito and Thomas have been accepting bribes in various ways, Chief Justice Roberts could have insisted that they be impeached (if that's what it's called for SCOTUS justices), he could have kept his oath to defend the Constitution. This Court has told the president and the world that the basic tenets of the Constitution no longer mean anything -- that in fact some people ARE above the law. If any country bombed DC and took Trump prisoner, our VP would order the army to retaliate -- as rightfully it should. Trump has made it clear: he wants Venezuela's oil for himself and for his cronies who are paying him who-knows-how-much for the right to cash in on the oil Trump wants. What'll happen next is, as you said, unknown, but it's looking VERY bleak to me now, just 2 days after Mamdani was inaugurated here in NYC, an inauguration that left me feeling even a little bit hopeful about the future for the 1st time in who-knows-how-long. This is reminding me somewhat of the fear I felt when the Cuban missile crisis was yet to be resolved. We were lucky back then - I don't know if we'll be that lucky again.

That was not luck!!

"Shameless Supremes."

Roberts and the other Trump appointees were specifically chosen to create an autocratic "Unitary Executive" and they do deserve the blame for the monster they created.

If the Court has no shame, will this at least inflame Congress to reawaken and provide the guidance and guardrails they are charged with? I see cracks in the dam and this might be the bridge too far for even the most committed MAGA loyalists. The midterms will be truly transformative...

This is a unique perspective re this unbelievable retro-colonialist aggression; but it strikes me as very pertinent to where we find ourselves. Rethinking the Supreme Court will be essential to the future of democracy…

I used to think the Supreme Court would save us from the folly of elected politicians, and I argued that point enthusiastically several years ago when others saw nothing but doom and gloom in what powerful politicians were doing at the time. I've never been more wrong. In concert with a political party that lacks the gumption to stand up to an ignorant, incompetent "leader," the court enables a reckless president and clears the way for both national and international chaos.
