The part of the article that hit me most was that second to the last paragraph that said that politics is not sports teams, that is to help all of us, not to gloat at wins. Changed my mood immediately.

Thank you David. I am so glad that resonated with you. I am a sports fan and I think of all the times I've been at a stadium and opposing fans are so riled up when if they met outside of the stadium they could easily focus on all that they have in common instead of fighting.

Thank you! I feel the same way; so many things, stories, songs, music, poetry, pictures--these all make my heart sing. Bill Wither's does that every single time! I like to post songs and poetry.

Now the hard truth!

We must--All of us--Vote for the right to Keep all those precious things, free for us all now and after 2024!

Thank you, Elliot. I’m 11 days into recuperating from hip replacement surgery and music, prayer, and meditation are what I call upon to get me beyond the discomfort that Tylenol doesn’t touch. Lean on Me, a favorite I’ve forgotten about, is one I will add to my list!

Thank you, Elliot, That is such a great song, and a reminder that no matter how low we get, we can always find someone to lean on.

I know exactly what you mean. The whole day felt full of moments between then and when? I didn’t know what else to do except work in my garden and clean out the bird baths for the birds that were trying to bathe in dirty water.

I decided to rest my mind on gratitude for all the people in my life, who by some miracle are all so positive in their approach to life. None are right wing media watchers. None are fear or hate mongers. They are all givers to the greater good in one way or another.

As I listened to both versions of “Lean on Me” I smiled and thought about my family and friends, each one willing and able to be that rock in my life should I need them.

Maybe the reason so many people are attracted to Trump and his hateful messaging is because they have no one to lean on and they have mistaken his rhetoric for caring and strength. What a sad thought.

I know I can’t fix those people or their problems. But I think this day which was somewhat void of a clear course helped me find a more compassionate vision of those lost souls that have wandered down a dangerous path - alone and mostly clueless of their destiny.

So timely even the day after as I await the State of the Union Address with anticipation and hope. ❤️🇺🇸🌎

“Our political parties are not sports teams. The goal of governing is not to win for the sake of winning, to run up the score, or to gloat in the defeat of others. We are members of a society that should be focused on helping everyone.”

These are powerful words, Elliot, thank you!

Music is wonderful. Such a great elixir for emotional and physical troubles. “Lean on Me” will live on forever as one of those compositions that does the trick.

I’ve been listening to music a lot more lately….from my favorite playlists to good old fashioned FM Radio. I was starting to OD on politics (don’t take this as apathy). But when you start hearing Joe Scarborough’s and Ari Melber’s voice in your head at odd times of the day, that means it’s time to diversify. I’d rather hear Mick Jagger’s and Billy Joel’s voices.

This song lifted me up when it arrived on the scene in 73. Along with Marvin Gaye’s what’s going on, gave me the strength I needed in a personal valley. 🙏 Music, indeed has so much to offer.
