The strike that killed so at least 87 at sea with 30+ being rescued by Sri Lanka shows just how depraved they, and we by extension, are. The facts are utterly appalling, and yet almost no media attention on it. tRUmp and Hegseth, and the commander, belong before a war crimes tribunal yesterday. And yet the Republican Senators, and Fetterman, vote to continue the insanity. I despair at what it will take to wake up the nation, and insist that the depravity end.

I was born in the UK during WWII. Probably too young to remember hearing Mr. Churchill's words on the radio. But he rallied the people, kept them on course, and dare I say it, "kept hope alive."

The Supreme Court has guaranteed a Supreme Leader to our eternal shame. It has betrayed our democracy with the eager to appease help of the Republican Party. January 6th was an insurrection and Americans continued the insurrection in 2024 by electing a man devoid of any characteristic needed to lead a nation. We must now pick-up the tattered fabric of American democracy and begin to mend it by retooling our country and protecting our rights. As every American has said for their entire lifetime America must reassert itself as a nation of liberty and justice for all.
Hoping that the younger generation have learned from our mistakes. Taking democracy for granted , listening to what someone says on a campaign but not really hearing what they say. The my daddy, and grandpa voted this way I will too. We need both thinkers and questioners.

Words seem so woefully inadequate to express how I'm feeling about everything that's going on. "It" sucks one dry. You, Elliot, find the right words to keep us on our toes, alert, and help us to navigate through the struggles and darkness seeking the light - and hope. All of those little Iranian girls attending school bombed! Yet, we're to believe that the bombings are "targeted". It all really is affecting how I feel each and every day.

Two inconvenient facts we need to accept: a significant number of Americans would elect a sea slug rather than a black woman, and given a democracy the average Iranian would support the Palestinians over the Israelis - so Israel will not support democracy for Iran.
When I read the last paragraph of this piece, I was full of appreciation for your laying out a possible positive outcome from this dark time. . . As the Jewish saying goes, "From your mouth to God's ears." I truly hope that our country learns from the horrible mistakes that have occurred and will continue to occur until this president is gone from the White House. We all will have to work hard to repair the damage that has been done by this horrid (shall I say evil?) administration and its supporters.
