Well, we have been warned for decades of the “dumbing down” of America. What does it say for the viability of democracy when a majority of idiots chose the dumbest one among us as our leader? Who knew that a once great Republic could be felled with so little thought and effort?

Hope you are well, Elliot. Yes, he is exhausting and dangerous because he is an idiot, worse, a slowly dementing (dementiaing? let's create a word) idiot who was lucky enough to be born into money and have people around him to tell him how best to squander it. Now he, but especially his handlers from P 2025, let's not forget, and all the other collabos, are causing everybody else worldwide to lose theirs. He needs to be removed and put away somewhere and his collabos dealt with accordingly.

Finally someone has the gumption to name Trump for what he is—an IDIOT. Idiot defined is a person with an intellectual disability. Yet the pundits have hesitated to use the word thinking it a pejorative, nothing more or less than a disparaging nominal expressing contempt or disapproval. Would that were the case! But as you so ably point out, it is far worse. The man is stupid!

What to do now.

1) The new folk in Congress need to stand up for their oath and start a coalition for law and order and sign up those in Congress with ethics

2) Require all in Congress to restate their oath of office

3) Organize to remove the insurrectionists from control of the Senate and Judiciary Committees

4) Subpoena Leonard Leo

5) Subpoena Bondi for her misdeeds related to Adams

6) Start a bill to impeach Thomas

7) Start a bill to impeach Trump

8) Reinstate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act – it stimulates bribery

9) Start a bill to change Citizens United

The problem is that the 140 insurrectionists can’t admit to insurrection and they, Trump and SCOTUS are working together to implement Project 2025 for their richest benefactors.

OR, he may be a Russian mole and Putin is smart. The felon is only an idiot if you think he is trying to improve the country. His intelligence improve a lot if you think he is trying to destroy the country. What excuse do repubs have, they all can't use idiocy as the reason for supporting trumpery.

Or he could be a tool of oligarchs who will personally benefit from a recession that he'll blame on the Fed not raising interest rates. Get the recession out of the way now, 'fix' it just in time for midterms.

There's lots of moving parts this weekend. FCC just announced they'll go after TV broadcasters who are 'unfair' to Republicans and trump. DOGE just announced a weekend 'hackathon' at the IRS. High level national security people at the CiA and NSA were fired. Supreme Court just announced it's okay to deport the Venezuelans. On April 20th - Hitler's birthday - it will be the end of the 90 day pause and he'll get to hear back on whether it's okay to use the military against civilians.

And finally, if nothing changes, trump is going to get his great big beautiful military parade with tanks rolling down Pennsylvania avenue this summer.

So I wouldn't say he's smart, but there are people with plans behind him working tirelessly to enact their shitty, shitty vision.

You have said pretty much everything I have said and thought since trump first ran for president. His stupidity and ego just amaze me. I will never understand how anyone can want him in office yet there are still people out there saying how smart he is and what a good job he's doing. They are as delusional as he is!

Perfect description of this insane man. The media, newspapers, and News stations should all be publicizing this essay on this terrible destructive man.

As they say, the best way to make a small fortune is to inherit a large fortune (as trump did).

trump has no goodwill in reserve to draw upon when times get hard and when he falls as all dictators do, amidst the chaos, he will find out he has no friends, none.

The wanton destruction of an enormous, complicated economy strikes me as the actions of a vengeful 5 year old bent on destroying his own expansive playroom because he thinks his friends are stealing his treasure.

We allowed a person who is mentally and psychologically ill to come into power. Nothing makes sense and nothing will make sense. Stupid, yes but cunning on his own behalf. He holds the country and the world hostage to his ignorance.

Worse than an idiot: he is a sick, sociopathic, ic mendacious, malignant narcissist.

The world's most egregious conman, he resembles the emperor Hans Christian Anderson wrote about - the guy with no clothes.

Absolutely! Well said. He’s too stupid to know that he’s stupid. And the whole world pays the price for pretending otherwise. Still hard to believe that such a person has so much power. My father used to say that Americans were distrusting of people they thought might be smarter than them. But did they have to trust this combination of arrogance, cruelty and idiocy?

Rapidly advancing senility is added to initial stupidity to create a dangerous monster. The sycophants are playing along with the obvious for their own (short term) gain. The Republicans in congress today are the real disappointment for not saying what they clearly recognize. The appropriate description, which they will wear in history, is collaborators.

Honestly I think we Americans are bored, entitled & too lazy to look beyond our screens. Of course that makes it easy to get us behind the Pied Piper. 😳omg.. look at that ass! I’m a disappointed Dem, with nobody to blame but me.

I concur...and have been saying similar about him for many years. The gaggle of crowds giving him positive feedback is revolting, impossible to understand, to say the least. Thank you for putting it so well with your writing. I feel as if I can heave a sigh in relief to know without a doubt that this understanding of a purely evil and criminal mind is now known. Half the battle won is to know your enemy and we are in the battle of out lifetimes to save our democracy and country. Again, thank you.
